Itinerary
Day 1: TBILISI CITY TOUR
Meeting at the group hotel in Tbilisi. The group package services begin with the early hours group transfer from Tbilisi Airport. After a few hours rest, then breakfast, full day city tour. Visit Old and new districts of Tbilisi, Narikala Fortress 4th c, Sulfur bathes, Shardeni Street, Metekhi church 13th c, Old Synagogue, Bridge of Peace -modern glass bridge for pedestriansand Rustaveli Avenue. Free evening. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.
Day 2: TBILISI-MTSKHETA-BORJOMI-AKHALTSIKHE
Breakfast at the hotel. check out from the hotel and drive to Mtskheta - ancient capital of Eastern Georgia - Iberia. Visit two UNESCO sites: Jvari monastery 6th c and Svetitskhoveli cathedral 11th c. Drive south-west to Borjomi spa, walk in the National park and taste bubbling mineral waters from the springs. Continue the trip to Akhaltsikhe, a small historical town, where the most significant sight - district Rabat, renewed Fortress and museum is waiting for you. Overnight in Akhaltsikhe hotel.
Day 3: AKHALTSIKHE-VARDZIA-KUTAISI
Breakfast at the hotel. This is the full day exploration of Javakheti province. Follow the canyon along Mtkvari river, on the route we will stop for picturesque Khertvisi fortress of 10th c. The fort is well preserved and looks authentic from the small bridge.
Continue to Vardzia - cave city and monastery complex of 12th c, which became well defended monastery complex in 13th c. The frescoes of 12th c are still well preserved. Here you will find one of the images of King Tamara - the first woman who ascended to throne in feudal Georgia.
After cave adventures drive via Rikoti Pass to the ancient city and former capital of West Georgia Kutaisi. Visit two UNESCO World heritage sights: Monastery complex and Academy of Gelati 12th c and Bagrati Cathedral from 11th c. You will have an opportunity to observe archaeological excavations near the sight. Overnight in Kutaisi Guesthouse.
Day 4: KUTAISI-BATUMI
Breakfast at the guesthouse.After breakfast first we visit Sataplia Nature reserve and karst caves. Drive to the West to Batumi, the capital of Adjara Autonomous Republic. We will do a nice walk in unique Botanical Garden. Later visitto Gonio Fortress, where according to the legend Colchis Medea’s brother was captured. Free evening. Overnight in Batumi hotel.
Day 5: BATUMI-GORI-UPLISTSIKHE-TBILISI
Breakfast in the hotel.Drive to the East to the Capital city Tbilisi. We will pass through the town of Gori and have an excursion at J.Stalin’s house-museum. After excursion in Stalinism era we will continue the way to the caves –stone town Uplistsikhe. The entire town was carved into the soft stone of the mountainside in the 1st millennium BC with its streets, churches, temples, residential dwellings and storerooms. Evening arrive in Tbilisi.
Free evening. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.
Day 6: TBILISI-TSINANDALI-TELAVI
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to picturesque and the most fertile part of Georgia - Kakheti. First stop in Sighnagi-old trading town rescaled with defensive wall 17th c. Easy walk for sightseeing in a narrow streets, small squares, carper and wine shops. Continue the way to Tsinandali vinery and have a wonderful opportunity for tasting tremendous Georgian wines (optional). Overnight in Telavi hotel.
Day 7: TELAVI-DAVIT GAREJA-TBILISI
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast drive to Gareji semi desert area to explore David Gareji monastery complex and caves. The classic short walk will take us through an abundance of sandstone colors and extraordinary medieval frescoes.
Return back to Tbilisi.Free evening. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.
DEPARTURE
Early transfer to the airport for departure. The group package services end with breakfast and a single timed transfer to Tbilisi Airport.
